Well, we're pretty sure. I mentioned in a previous update that Addison would sometimes say "bye bye" while waving, but that it was mostly just to imitate us.
Well, bye-bye's closest sibling, "HI!" has made it to this little lexicomane's budding vocabulary (of two words). I'd say this is closer to the actual first word, since she says it on her own initiative while waving. Last Sunday in nursery as we walked up to a friend and her baby, she (unprompted by me), waved and pronounced "Hi!" emphatically. This week she has said it constantly, especially to Aslan, or when we get a new toy out, or while standing at the front door looking out.
I snuck this next one 5 minutes earlier, while she was chasing Aslan. It also showcases her peg-leg crawl, used when she's planning ahead to stand up on something and wants to be in the ready-position. I'm thinking she'll be a while still to walk.. who knows, but she's getting pretty creative (and is already fast) with her crawls - so who needs to stand on two legs??
that was david's first word, too!
ReplyDeleteit's funny how different her hi sounds than david's hi.
i also love her peg-leg walk. david can stand on his own (and stand up without pulling on anything) and has taken several steps, but i think he feels the same way -- why walk when he's already so fast at crawling!?
