I often find myself not writing because it seems I have all kinds of short snipits to share or things I want to document and remember, but no "big" ideas that I'm ready to flesh out in a 5 paragraph essay. Not that any of you want to read a 5 paragraph essay. So today I bring you these short little musings. Tuesday Museday or something like that. That probably exists somewhere out in blog land because everything already exists in blog land, so I won't officially call it that. Unofficially Tuesday Museday.
- Yesterday Danny called me at 3pm to surprise me and say, "I'll be home at 5 and will take care of dinner. You have a massage at 5:30." Whaaaaattt?!? Yeah that really happened. No occasion or reason except that he said he wanted to encourage me. So I spent 1.5 hours yesterday evening in heaven while he had dad and dinner duty. #hesmineallmine
- We had hotdogs for dinner and I was way too excited about it.
- I am having a hard time watching the tornado coverage. Having a child changes everything in how you relate to such news... what if she had been in that school? What if she and I had been home while Danny was at work? Not the time for a discussion on why terrible things like this happen, but I am thankful for God's control and that we can trust him to care for those who are suffering.
- I had the most amazing coupon experience at Kroger this week. Also got way too excited about that.
- Ever since getting her reflux under control (still have to write about that), Addie has become a serious napper. I now do things like scrub my washer and dryer and paint doors because I have never experienced this kind of time alone since having a child.
- Addison is obsessed with lawn mowers. (mon-mowahs) This is where she stations herself for however many hours the landscape crew is in our neighborhood. When they leave she repeats over and over: "Mo' mon-mowahs?" I can't help but think this obsession could be rooted in the fact that I mowed several lawns per week with my dad until I was about 41 weeks pregnant and the sound must be comforting to her.
- It has rained pretty much every day for the past.. I don't know...
year? I really don't mind it that much, and the best "side-effect" is that this girl's hair is LOVIN it.
- Addie often stops in the middle of whatever she's doing, folds her hands, and declares, "PRAY!" We always stop and do it. I never want her to outgrow or become too busy to "pray without ceasing," and I have a lot to learn about being more sensitive to the Spirit leading me to pray often.
- Family living 10 hours away is not cool. However, Facetime is really cool. Here Addison is kissing Mimi and Pop Pop, which she did repeatedly in this conversation.
- Speaking of smooches:
- Lastly, my big accomplishment of this week (life) is that I finished Les Miserables last night. Did you know the classics are FREE on the Kindle app?! The sad thing is yesterday, about 30 pages from the end, I learned that I was reading the UNabridged version, which explains why I have been reading since before Christmas. I would insert something snooty here about reading such a classic in its entire glory, but I fully intended to read the abridged version. I should have gotten a clue that perhaps this was the original when it was a thousand pages and had chapter after chapter about battles and the Parisian sewer system... But now that it's done, I'm actually going to miss my old friends and their misery and their sewer systems. Truly an amazing work of art. Just read the abridged version, OK?
david also LOVES the lawn mower! we stared at lawn mowers in our neighborhood several times today. and it's with the exact same "accent" -- "mon-mowah" and "mo mo mo mo mon-mowah!" his favorite is "Da-de mon mowah!"
ReplyDeleteand in the abridged les mis, there's almost nothing about sewer systems :) way to go!
Great musings for any Tuesday! What an AWESOME surprise and gift from Danny yesterday. Sweet curls and kisses and prayers from Addie. And WOW what a turn of events for her to be napping so much, enjoy that alone / productive time!
