Hello friends!

Thanks for 1) getting my email invite - I assume it worked? and 2) coming over to read this silly blog.

I guess there's no time like the present to just jump in and start writing in a blog.  With friends and family in so many places, when things happen that I'd like to share with others, I'm kind of at a loss of how else to do it.  Facebook is a little too public and a little too weird about privacy settings, so I figured (perhaps naively) that a blog is a touch more secure and I can share more with "friends only" - like the real, living friends. (which is why I went with the invite-route, because as far as I can tell, with Blogger there's no way to do a password - if anyone knows differently please share!)

So here goes nothing.  Not to mention, I really enjoy reading the blogs that I follow, so I figure I ought to also contribute to the "conversation!"  Naturally, a live face-to-face conversation is preferable, or a long phone call.  With some of you, that's a luxury I get to enjoy often!  But if not, hopefully this will help us all stay in touch just a bit better.
