This past week has been an adventure in figuring out Addison's nap schedule. And by "schedule" I mean, "how in the world do I get this child to take a nap?" THEN I got Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, and it explained how at 5-6 weeks, babies suddenly become more aware of their environments ("whoa, that light fixture is AHHHMAZINGG"), begin smiling socially (for real - not gas..), and start testing out their "talking" skills (wow, this child can make sounds OTHER than screaming!). Along with all this can come a huge resistance to napping, because in her mind, there's just way too much to see and do!
I took full advantage of her budding awareness today, and we had lots of fun at our photo shoot. Danny will be proud of the mini-video at the end that I shot of her tummy time... that neck is getting stronger and stronger, much to his delight!
| I will remind her when she's 14 that there was a time when she found me hilarious... |
Body builder!
And from the photos you can see that I took the plunge and CHOPPED my hair. Danny has been asking me to, so I finally went through with it. I was totally in a long-hair rut anyway.. I LOVE long hair, which means I leave it growing and growing, with zero style or shape. And these days, about all I do is put it in a ponytail anyway, sooo... not much lost.
I actually almost did this cut when I was about 36 weeks pregnant, but my hairstylist refused - she thought I was just talking from irrational hormones and was afraid I'd go ballistic on her if she actually cut it. So when I showed up this week, she apparently thought the hormones were still making this decision and asked me about 15 times: "Are you sure? Are you going to cry? Are you going to get angry at me if I do this?" No, I didn't cry. Yes it's really short and will take getting used to. But I'm glad I did it, Danny loves it, and my hair is growing at breakneck speeds these days, so by like next week it'll be halfway down my back again anyway.
Mom-hair, anyone? Well good. It showcases my spit-up covered shoulders.
Look at her smiles!! I am glad you got that book and that it has been helpful in this new phase – many people, including Kate and Joi, recommended that one to me.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your hair! I think the dramatic long-to-short chops are so fun. Now it has gone full cycle, looks like this is about the length it was years ago when we met you guys! Your hair grows crazy fast even withOUT the extra hormones, so I am sure it will be long again before you know it.
