Just this morning I had a pathetic mom moment as I dug frantically through your drawer trying to find something, anything you could wear from your 0-3 month clothes. One by one, I'd hold up an item (or desperately pull it over your head), only to toss it to the "keep-for-a-future-baby-which-hopefully-there-will-be-another-girl-because-these-clothes-are-soo-cute-and-I'm-not-ready-to-say-goodbye" pile. I think this happened overnight, because I'm pretty sure these all fit you yesterday.
I've heard from the experts (ie: other moms) a general consensus that 3 months is a big milestone to reach. And yes, they were RIGHT. You're no longer considered a newborn, and you definitely don't act like one anymore (usually..). Here's what we've had going on this month:
- It seems like you've hit a new level of alertness and are taking EVERYTHING in. You've always been a very awake and alert girl, but now you light up when someone new walks in the room (especially dad), and when we're on walks or runs you look around in awe at everything passing by. You spend a lot of your day now with your mouth gaping open as if everything around you is the coolest thing you've ever seen. It's pretty cute.
- You've become a chatterbox. You talk constantly when you're awake. We have especially good (& loud) girl talk in the mornings when you first wake up, and you're practicing tons of new sounds all the time.
- Night sleep has always been easy, but I'd say it's gotten more organized this month. You really want to go down by 7pm (sometimes earlier if your late nap was short or omitted), and you get up around 7 or 7:30am. Usually you're up twice to eat, but go straight back down. On cue for your 3 month birthday, you only woke up ONCE that night at 3am to eat for 5 minutes, and went on to sleep about 13 hours total that night. It was the first time I actually woke up before you in the morning, and it was amazing. I did a victory dance. (The next night we were back to twice.. keeping us on our toes!)
- You've decided catnaps suit you just fine. Some days you take FIVE NAPS. For 30-45 minutes each and not a minute longer no matter what I try. There have been a few glimpses of you stretching them out, so I'm hoping this month we see fewer, longer naps. In the meantime you're totally happy with this arrangement, so I'll continue to live life in sprints of 30 minutes (frantic dusting! hurry up and grade those papers! speed showering!)
- Last thing about your sleep (I seem to obsess over it these days): you're now in your crib in your room, all the time. You took the transition like a champ.. WE were the ones having a hard time with it. Boo hooooo.
- The ErgoBaby is our favorite accessory right now.
- You join me on a run every morning and are so content - it usually becomes your first nap. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for our BOB!!!
- You're getting so strong - kicks, arms, neck... everything! Tummy time is going better this month too.
- You get lots of practice smiling when the camera's NOT on you... first sight of that black box and things get very serious. :) We've managed to catch a couple though.
- Of course, you and Aslan still get along famously. Usually he prefers to stay with you rather than come with me if I leave the room or you're upstairs napping.
Excited for this next month together! We love you!!
(thanks to my friend Cindi for the use of her camera, and for taking most of these photos!!)
