Addison tames the Wild West (days 1-2)

We made it!!

I am oh so proud of my little girl.  She did AMAZING!  We asked a LOT of a 7 month old, and she delivered like a champion.

Backing up... I had the honor of being in my friend Ashley's wedding this past weekend.  Ashley was my childhood best friend.  We were born 2 months apart and grew up next door to each other for 18 years and spent nearly every waking moment together, plus sleepovers (when I wasn't too scared and asked my dad to come get me.  All 100 feet away).  We played dress up, dolls, rode bikes, went sledding, spent all summer at the pool, and had picnics at this tree with a hole in it (which sadly, has since been cut down!).  I'll find some pictures of us as kids and post them soon.

Naturally, I was thrilled when she asked me to be part of her wedding.  Danny couldn't come due to work obligations, so my Super Mom agreed to come and play grandma nanny when wedding obligations required my attention.  My mom was such a trooper throughout, just doing whatever needed to be done, and even dealing with her fear of heights a couple of times!

heading up mt. evans

Honestly, I was super excited but super nervous about the trip.  This was Addison's first flight, plus our first trip away from Danny.  We prayed hard hard before we left, and she did amazing!  On the flights over she was just perfect - didn't fuss at all, even on take off and landing.  Despite the fact that she did not sleep a WINK (exhausting for me as she squirmed and nose-dived the whole time), she stayed happy and smiley.  On all our flights, people congratulated us on how well she did.  Yaaayy!!  I survived renting a car and navigating strange road signs to get us to Littleton, where we stayed for 2 nights.

Our second day in Colorado, we drove up Mt. Evans, which is a peak of 14,000 feet, and has the highest paved road in the country.  We had to stop around 11,500 feet due to time constraints, but it was probably for the best, since the pressure change might have been too much for Addie.  We still got AMAZING views.  Wow.  I kept thinking, Is this real?!

these trees are crazy old.  like 4,000 years old. wow!

after a stop at the ranger station, we headed up a bit further!

past the tree line.  it even snowed right here!
cute gold mining town

After Mt. Evans we did a quick drive-by of Red Rocks Amphitheater.  I was so amazed at what a cool venue this would be to see a concert.

all those people are exercising!  reminded me of running stadium stairs..

lil trooper, still having fun.
Addie had some trouble adjusting to the time change, so naps were short or irregular or nonexistent, and bedtime was just crazy - the first day she was still awake at 9pm (11pm back home?!?!), which is unheard of for her.  Miss Priss usually demands bedtime by 7pm!  Still, even on way less sleep, she stayed so happy and cheerful, interacting with everyone and just enjoying the ride.

Days 3-5 coming soon!
