I haven't exactly been the patiently patient example of patience this week. In other words I've been a big fat angry jerk. At whom you might ask? Well anybody really, but mostly this one, cuz we spend 24/7 together (sometimes quite literally...):
but mom, look at my irresistible adorableness

Cue boos, hisses, and rotten tomato-throwing. Believe me, I know I deserve it.
At her 9 month checkup we learned that her weight gain continues to be poor, and so "I sure hope she eats a few bites for lunch today" turned to "we have to have a game plan for every meal to make sure she eats a good amount of fat and protein." The doctor was pretty relaxed about it actually, and commented once again on how unusually active and energetic she is, and that she's just really doing a really bang-up job burning calories but isn't taking in enough to compensate. I held it together fine in the office but was quite emotional afterward and then was emotional all week.
On top of the food situation, Addie has not slept well, skipping naps and waking again at night. Sure, she has had a cold for two weeks now complete with coughing fits in the middle of the night but come on! Suck it up and go to sleep! (You can see how compassionate I've been. What if Danny treated me that way when I was sick?!)
Then last night, as I was wiping green slime and wondering why she wasn't settling in for bedtime (usually the easiest time of the day), I felt at least two, maybe more top teeth bubbling up under her gums. It was like a slap in my face. Here I've been, whining to myself about what a trying week it's been, and she's not only been battling a cough, cold and sinus thing, but also working on multiple teeth.
Which brings us to my title. If we were giving out medals, I'd get the Gold in MomFails.
I am thankful for God's mercy for his sinful child (me) that's new every day, and also for renewed mercy (at least for today, until my next monstrous flesh encounter) for my child.
Lastly, just for fun, here is the latest culprit (as if we needed any more) in the never-ending saga of "The Naptime Robbers" series:
oh haayyy! what was it that I was supposed to be doing again?
because I was crawling around and then I saw these bars and then
I did what anyone would do, I pulled up on them.

Happy Monday!
