Will's 3 month update

Apparently I only do monthly update blog posts.  How do you faithful bloggers do it??

Granted, I spend 90% of naptime (the only time I could feasibly write, assuming the house is decent, a status that is definitely touch-and-go at any given moment) getting somebody to go to sleep, or go back to sleep, and the other 10% waiting in the hall to continue the process.  Maybe I should move the computer to the hall.

And even though this is the ONLY post I've done in a month, I'm still late getting the monthly update done.

Dear Will,

My little three month old!  We MADE it through the 4th trimester!!  Three months - such a great milestone.  No longer a newborn, but definitely still squishy and sweet like a newborn.  While we're not to the "life is predictable now" phase yet (when does that come again?  oh, never?), things are in a way better routine these days.

You are a charmer.  I can already tell mama's going to have to be careful - you could get out of almost anything with that huge grin.  You are the happiest little boy (but really, who wouldn't be happy with a baby's lifestyle?!), smiling, laughing, and talking the day away.  Dad got you to do your first full belly laugh, and still is the best at getting you to giggle.  You really love to interact with anyone nearby and seem to be taking it all in these days.  You continue to be very content and can entertain yourself for long stretches (hands are especially exciting these days), which is a great strength. :)

You seem big to me, but that's because I want you to stay little.  Right at 3 months you got sick so we went to the doctor and found you weigh 13 pounds, which I think is pretty average.  We'll see at your  4 month appointment how long you are, and where on the growth chart you fall.

Sleep is still good, but still confusing.  I actually talked with a sleep consultant about you and your sister this month (now that's worth a blog post!!), who assured me you are completely normal, and even ahead of the game, which is funny because last month I was so frustrated and discouraged by your short naps.  They're still short, anywhere from 30-45 minutes, but she assured me it's developmental and will work itself out in the next couple of months.  I can sometimes get your afternoon nap to stretch out if I help you every 45 minutes or so, but I'm looking forward to you just doing it on your own.  Night is good - you're usually down by 7:30, up once to eat quickly, and back down until around 7 or 7:30am.

You're working on holding toys, and seem to like them a lot.  You really like playing with Addie, love a good bath, and could probably lie on your back kicking all day.  You're still not a huge fan of riding in the car, though that seems to be getting a little better since I pulled back out the Sleep Sheep (if anyone out there has a baby who hates the car seat, try white noise!  Seems to work for us).  You don't mind tummy time and can stay in it for a long time, but show no interest in rolling over.  At all.  And the swing.. oh my!  I didn't have a swing until borrowing one from a friend a couple weeks ago.  I have no idea how babies sleep in them, because you laugh and smile like you're on a roller coaster! Other dislikes: sleeping anywhere other than your bed, being given Tylenol, and.. being awake longer than 90 minutes.  Now THAT is really rough.

I could go on and on about how sweet, smiley, and fun you are.  You're up for whatever and are just happy to be along for the ride.  Bring it on, month 4!

  3. What a sweetheart!!!! I miss him and I've never even met him! Just want to squeeze him. You are quite the photographer! Can't wait to get these boys together. Sounds like he is a pretty normal sleeper...didn't Addie and Maddie take a bunch of short naps for who knows how long?! He looks like such a happy boy. I love all the pictures you post of the two of them together. Addie is beautiful and such a sweet big sister. Little blonde gang you have there :-)
