Mom asked if I would write a post to share about my first 2 weeks of life, especially the parts about being home. So I said OK, since I'm not that busy these days, but apparently she is? I dunno, I think I'm a pretty easy baby.
I'll start describing my day at midnight. I usually am sleeping at that time, but like to rouse mom at around 2:00 for my nighttime snack. A few times this break for food has taken WAY too long, like the time I pooped 3 times in a row every time mom put a new diaper on me (haha what a sucker!!), and on the 3rd diaper I went ahead and peed while my diaper was off and soaked my whole nightgown. That night we were up for almost an hour and a half! Not good for my beauty rest.
I like to wake up again around 5:30 or 6 to eat again. Maybe one day I'll do a longer stretch but I am so HUNGRY right now! Usually I'll fall back asleep and let mom sleep a little more after this one - she tells me she used to wake up at 5am for work, and loved getting up at 6:30 to run when she was no longer working, but man, it's basically impossible to get her up before 8:30 these days! C'mon mom, there are things to do!
Mornings are my favorite time to be awake. Actually it's been my goal so far to never take a nap before 1:00 pm. Sure it makes me cranky and more fussy, but I just can't force myself to sleep before then! Dad usually leaves for work around 8, so mom and I will spend the morning walking brother Aslan, changing my outfit 10 times (a girl needs options, and if I don't spit up or get poop on an outfit, mom would ACTUALLY make me wear it all day! Can you imagine what an embarrassment I'd be?!), and playing on the floor, sometimes on my tummy which supposedly makes my neck stronger. Good thing because I think my neck could really use more workouts.
Mom stuffed me in this for a walk before she knew how to use it. She has a lot to learn! |

I'm a good sport and all, but I'm glad she figured this out after taking these pictures... |
By afternoon I'm ready to nap, and I'm awake for shorter bursts. Usually I'm done fussing by now too. We'll usually take another walk, get together with friends (so many babies to play with!), sit outside on nice days, read, or other adult stuff while I'm asleep.

I <3 my bro |
Lots of people have come by to visit, which is pretty cool I guess but I sometimes sleep through the whole visit. Here's two of mom's students who came by with a chocolate cake! Yum!
Mom keeps saying what a blessing our friends and family have been - they've come over with meals, to hang out, and even to help clean house! Apparently we're pretty lucky to know these people!
Mom can get pretty emotional. About once a day when she's looking at me or talking to me she just starts crying. I don't think she needs food or a diaper change (does she even wear a diaper?), so I don't know what's up with that. I've heard her saying she's just "so happy" but I don't get why you would cry if you're happy? Adults are so hard to figure out.
Mom thinks I'll probably be a real ham. I kinda already am, I'm glad my sense of humor isn't lost on her.
I do think for now that I'm pretty cute. And I'm quite happy to be here, this family is feeling much more complete now that I've arrived. OK enough mushy stuff (I'll save that for this diaper I'm getting ready for mom..). Gotta run now, mom is about to start cleaning up my 15 outfits, toys, diaper accessories, and blankets all strewn around the living room, so I think it'd be a good time to interrupt and demand a meal. See ya!
You are so cute! I love the way you write! (and you are only 2 weeks! ;) thanks for the update Meredith. We cannot wait to see you guys and hear more stories!! Addison is precious!!
ReplyDeletethis is great!
ReplyDeletejust a sidenote: Luke is almost 4 months and still eats every two hours during the day. Every baby is different, but get ready to do LOTS of feedings!
