4 month update!

I'm so excited to write this four month update.  It's as if not that much has changed, but EVERYTHING has changed.  We are loving every moment with our sweet daughter.  It's crazy to see how much personality is coming out at 4 months, so I can't even imagine what the coming weeks/months/years will hold.  I feel like the luckiest mom in the world to have Addison, though I'm sure every mom feels that way about their child!

handmade quilt by Sam and Kate!  how special!!

Addie, as I write this, you're taking your second nap of the day, and we're going on one hour.  For some that's hardly noteworthy, but for YOU little hyper missy, this is major!!  The past week has been really good in the nap realm.  I'd like to think the improvements are thanks to my borderline psychotic obsession with your sleep schedule and routine (at least so I can justify said neurosis), but maybe it's just your age.  Either way, we're both waaay happier with this arrangement than with the previous trend of 30 minute "snaps," so way to go baby girl, I'm proud of you!

At night you're still waking a couple times to eat - I feed you before I go to bed, and then usually you wake one other time.  It's only a 10 minute ordeal but.. I'm getting close to being over it.  Aren't you?  Are you really THAT hungry? Let's think about dropping that 1 or 2am drive through the milk bar, OK?

New this month:

- At 14 weeks, you rolled over (front to back) - 4 times in the span of 10 minutes.  Then you waited a week to do it again.  Now it's been a couple weeks.  I guess no rush on making this a regular thing, but you certainly can do it!

- More interest in toys.  You'd kind of bat at them before, but you're totally into them now, and even seem extra excited about new toys I give you.  And it all goes in your mouth now.

- Those hands have found their use!  You now will not only hold onto things, but take them out of my hand and pass them between hands. (oh, the things that get me excited these days!)

- (happy) Squealing/screeching is your preferred method of communication.  That and LOUD TALKING.  We've found the volume button, and it's pretty much stuck on "make mom deaf."

- You're also getting into games, like airplane (current fav). Talk about some squealing.

just after take off or landing..

- Going down for naps and bedtime now is an absolute dream as long as we catch you at that golden moment. 99% of the time there's no crying or fussing.  Phew.

And stuff to work on:

- Rounding out your little flat head. :)

- Fewer night wakings

- Even looonger naps??? (OK now I'm just getting greedy)

This week we'll go for your 4 month check up, so I'm eager to hear what else we should work on and expect this month, as well as see how much you've grown.

Thanks for being awesome, we love you!

  1. I love walking through motherhood with you, Mere. Your enthusiasm is so refreshing. I shouldn't be surprised though, I knew you'd be an amazing Mom!
