Rezzies Revisited

Well a year's a whole lot longer than a month, but I figure it's time for a check-in on how those New Year's Rezzies are going.

Goal One: Stop picking my cuticles.  Even though this one came with a fabulous (self-given) prize to motivate me, I sadly have to start my list off with a nice big fail.  Waaahh.  I really am doing better.  I should've taken some before shots, because it was sad how bad all 10 fingers could get when I was on a bad streak.  These days, it's just my dang thumbs that I can't seem to leave alone.  I won't/can't be defeated though, so I'll keep plugging and check in again on this one.  For now, here's what we've got goin' on today... 8 healthy fingers and two stupid thumbs.

Yes, those are Spiderman bandaids.  They were the only waterproof kind I could find.

Goal Two: Run less.  I have loved this one!!  It has been so great for me to mix up my workout routine.  Thanks to my annoying friend Tony Horton, I have been doing weight training every Wednesday (every week I call Danny and declare THAT was the hardest video yet) and yoga every Friday.  I've kept up my running the other 4 days of the week (we are both training for a 10-mile race in two weeks) and rest on Sundays.  It's a good thing to realize how weak I am in some areas (pull ups?! what a joke!) and to improve my overall fitness, and I'm sure it will ultimately make me a better runner, too.

Goal Three: Get up before Addison.  Most days, this has been a success, too.  Barring a few times my alarm wasn't set properly or we just stayed up too late catching up on all of season 2 of Downton Abbey, I've been able to get up and have uninterrupted time in the word and prayer nearly every morning.  Yesterday morning was one of those that I didn't have my alarm set right, and I found myself really anxious for naptime so I could sit down and refocus my mind and perspective on the truth of the Gospel.. I really missed it and saw how much I need it first thing in the morning.  While the others are nice things to strive for, I am certain that this is the goal that really has to continue successfully.

Goal Four: No 'Zerts January.  Phew.  We made it.  Really, it wasn't nearly as hard as I expected, and we're actually planning to continue until our race mid-February.  I'd be remiss not to remind you that I allowed myself small amounts of dark chocolate.  I'd also be lying not to admit we had hot chocolate on the night of the first snow (I mean, come ON!), aaand that we made brownies when our friends were in town last week.  Oh, and I had this crazy decadent cake our friend Val made:

Buuut I got to see that one again a couple hours later when Danny and I both got slammed with a 24 hour Stomach Bug from Hades (completely viral and unrelated to the cake or anything else eaten at that potluck) so I'm not counting that one. :) Definitely some cheats throughout the month, but a huge huge win in my book, especially since we are willing to keep it going for a few more weeks.  However, since mid-January we have been planning a binge session with our friend Mary who also did no desserts this month... we will definitely still partake in that tomorrow and I plan to make the most carb-laden chocolate-heavy dessert Pinterest can produce.

Anyone else?  How are your resolutions coming along?
